How It Began

It began with a trip to Istanbul. Walking through the Grand Bazaar, past rooms draped in silk and shelves lined with embroidered lace, our founder felt something she had never experienced in a boutique back home — the feeling of being overwhelmed by beauty, completely and joyfully lost in it.

She returned to Nairobi with a single kaftan. Her friends fell in love with it instantly. They wanted one. Then another. Before long, she was fielding more questions than she could answer — "Where did you get this?" "Can you get me one?" "What about for my wedding?"

That kaftan was the beginning of Layali Luxe Kenya. What started as informal sourcing for friends became something far greater — a curated boutique dedicated to bringing the world's most exceptional modest fashion, bridal wear, and occasionwear to the women of Kenya, without compromise on quality, authenticity, or elegance.

"I realised that Kenyan women had been underserved. We have the taste, the occasion, and the desire for true luxury — we just didn't have a home for it. Layali Luxe was built to be that home."

When I walked into a small atelier in Istanbul and watched an artisan hand-embroider a bridal veil with thread finer than a whisper, I understood something profound: this level of care is a form of love. And I wanted to bring that love home to Kenya.
